The Department of Defense announced the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, Friday.

1st Lt. Michael L. Runyan, 24, of Newark, Ohio, died July 21 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his convoy vehicle with an improvised explosive device in Muqdadiyah, Iraq. 

Runyan was assigned to the 52nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, from Schofield Barracks.
