SCHOFIELD BARRACKS — Residents are encouraged to attend the garrison’s Army Recycles Day event, Nov. 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Richardson Pool parking area, Schofield Barracks. Get rid of old computers, cell phones, batteries, bicycles, printer cartridges and much more. All participants will be eligible to win great prizes. Recycling is our kuleana, or responsibility. Recycling is not even an option at the Garrison; it is a requirement. The garrison’s Directorate of Public Works’ Environmental Solid Waste and Recycling Program is working towards achieving 50 percent waste diversion goal, establishing awareness and improving the convenience of recycling on base. The more the garrison recycles, the more money goes back into the program to support the garrison.
