Tricare Health Services
News Release

Tricare Online, or TOL, the Department of Defense patient portal, offers convenient, safe and secure access to personal health data, including allergy profiles, medication profiles, problem lists, encounter notes and even lab results.

Users can currently access TOL using three types of accounts:
MHS/iAS username and password;
DOD common access card, or CAC; or
DOD Self-Service Logon, called a DS logon.

CAC and Premium DS logon account users can access their personal health data, via the TOL Blue Button. However, due to security and privacy rules and regulations, MHS/iAS username and password users cannot access their personal health data via the TOL Blue Button.

Recognizing that having an account type that offers limited access is both confusing and inconvenient for users, TOL will be retiring the MHS/iAS username and password account type beginning the first week of August. Users currently access TOL using a MHS/iAS username and password should register for a Premium DS logon account, so they can continue to access TOL after the first week in August.

If users need help registering for a Premium DS logon account, click “For assistance, please refer to the ‘How to’ Guides.”

The ‘How to’ guide titled ‘Register for a Premium Account by Remote Proofing’ is recommended for users who do not currently have a DS Logon account and would like to sign up using a quick and convenient online registration process. However, although remote proofing is available, an alternative in-person proofing process is available for people who are unable to successfully complete the remote proofing online.

As an alternative, users can register via in-person proofing by visiting a Tricare Service Center or VA Regional Office. An on-site representative can assist with Premium DS logon account registration.
