Military Clothing Sales — Beginning Sunday, Oct. 7, the Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter Military Clothing Sales stores, part of the Exchange, will be closed on Sundays. Sunday operating hours have been discontinued due to Department of Defense budget reductions.

Living History Day — This event is scheduled from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Oct. 13, on the lawn of the historic Tropic Lightning Museum, Bldg. 361,Waianae Ave., Schofield Barracks. SB Flu Vaccine — Tricare beneficiaries can receive their flu vaccination for the 2012-2013 flu season 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 13, at the SB Exchange.

Halloween — Authorized Halloween Trick or Treat hours for the Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks areas will be 5:30-9 p.m., Oct. 31. Children under the age of 10 will require an adult escort. The Directorate of Emergency Services will provide increased presence in the community during trick or treat hours. Military and Department of the Army civilian police will be working together to ensure all activities are conducted in a safe manner.

AFAP Conference Issues — Coordinators of the Army Family Action Plan are now seeking community issues for consideration at the  Oct. 29-Nov. 2 conference.  AFAP is for the entire Army family of Soldiers, family members, Department of the Army civilians, retirees, National Guard, Reservists and survivors. Children’s Waiting Room — The ASYMCA Children’s Waiting Room offers on-site child care for healthy children whose parents or siblings have medical appointments in any of the Schofield clinics or at TAMC. No fee is charged. SB weekday hours are 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.; Tripler Army Medical Center hours are 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Family Night Programs — AMR and Schofield chapels invite the public to family night programs now underway. The weekly event features dinner, classes and activities for ages 4 through high school and adult. A nursery service, staffed by Child and Youth School Services, is provided for children ages 6 months to 4 years old who are registered with CYSS or CDC.

Free Study Programs — In alliance with the Department of Defense, eKnowledge is donating $200 SAT and ACT training programs to military families worldwide. Students select the training they need.

Vet Center — The FS Veterinary Treatment Facility is now seeing pets throughout the week from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., providing affordable preventative care or to obtain a mandatory airline health certificate required within 10 days of air travel, and more. Call (808) 433-2271.

Food for Families  — The Armed Services YMCA at Wheeler Army Airfield has an emergency food locker that assists military families experiencing financial difficulty. Donations are always accepted. Call (808) 624-5645.
