KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — Command Sgt. Maj. Erik Frey, command sergeant major, 45th Sustainment Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, and Col. Jeffrey Drushal, brigade commander, case their colors during a transfer of authority ceremony, here, Dec. 24.

The ‘Lightning Support’ Brigade, as they are known, handed over all logistical operations to the 3rd Sustainment Brigade from Fort Stewart, Ga.

Drushal reflected on the accomplishments of his unit and highlighted their most important accomplishments, working side-by-side with one another and building new friendships that will last a lifetime.

“Ten years from now, nobody is going to remember the number of convoys you have driven. Nobody is going to remember the supplies you (have driven), but they will remember the mentorship, the friendships, the inclusiveness in the community that you generated,” said Drushal.

“I have no doubt that as we transfer authority to the Providers (3rd Sustainment Bde.), our body of work will continue honorably,“ he said.
