Hawaii Military Engineers gather, celebrate their critical contributions to Pacific Theater

The ball brought together engineers from across the island and from different branches of the military.

HONOLULU – More than 450 Soldiers and guests assembled into the Makai Ballroom at the Pacific Beach Hotel, here, Aug. 28, to recognize military engineers across Hawaii and the critical role they play in the Pacific Theater.
The ball was hosted by the 130th Engineer Brigade, the Pacific Theater Engineer Brigade, and the senior engineer on ground was U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Bret Muilenburg, Commander of Naval Facilities Engineer Command-Pacific.

Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Leota, former senior enlisted leader, U.S. Army-Pacific, spoke to the group about the importance of the engineers and their strategic location in the Pacific theater. He commended them on the exceptional work they have done in the past.
The Army engineers in attendance were not exclusive to the 130th Eng. Bde.; battalions of 84th Eng. Bn. (Construction Effects) and the 65th Eng. Bn. (Combat Effects) were also present, as well as Soldiers from the 249th Eng. Bn. (Prime Power), 29th Eng. Bn. (Topographic), USACE, USARPAC, Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, and the engineer section of the 25th Infantry Division.
U.S. Army Engineer Regiment leaders also recognized eight Soldiers selected as Bronze and Steel de Fleury medal winners for providing significant contributions to Army engineering.
The brigade headquarters and 65th Eng. Bn. returned from Afghanistan less than 90 days ago, and Albert took the opportunity to recognize and award several spouses for their significant contributions to the units’ Family Readiness Group programs. The engineers in attendance are called upon to perform a wide variety of unique missions across the Pacific Theater.
