SCHOFIELD BARRACKS — Donald C. Machado Sr., 86, who retired in 2012, served as a civilian claims attorney in multiple legal offices for the U.S. Army in Hawaii for over 55 years.

He received the U.S. Army Claims Service Claims Career Award, Sept. 22, here.

This award was only the fifth one given out since the award was established in 2009

Staff Judge Advocate Bill Smoot presented the award to Machado Sr.

Machado Sr. also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Attorney General’s Office presented by Tom Helper, chief of the Civil Section, too.
