Effective Sept. 16, a tsunami watch has been issued for the state of Hawaii. An 8.3 magnitude earthquake occurred off the cost of northern Chile of 8.3 magnitude.

An investigation is underway to determine if there is a tsunami threat to Hawaii. If tsunami waves impact Hawaii, the estimated earliest arrival of the first tsunami wave is 3:06 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 17th.

Further messages will be issued as conditions warrant until the threat to Hawaii has passed. Get more details at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center at http://ptwc.weather.gov/.
