CFC Now — The Combined Federal Campaign for the Hawaii-Pacific region is ends today, Nov 13. To pledge, see your unit representative or donate online at www.cfc-hawaii.org/.

 

OPM Update — Personnel whose data was compromised are receiving notices from OPM monitoring PIN numbers to enroll in credit and identity monitoring. Notices are mailed as a folding letter like a Leave Earnings Statement.

To use your PINs and for more info on the cyber intrusion or tips on protecting your information, visit www.opm.gov/cybersecurity.

 

Judgment Day — The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking judges for an upcoming science and engineering fair, Feb. 13, 2016, for students in grades 6-12. This is a great opportunity to participate in an event that helps local schools and showcases the Army’s expertise in a variety of different career fields.

Judges must hold a B.A., B.S., M.S., B.Ed. or M.Ed degree and have work experience in the respective category.

Interested? Qualified Soldiers must fill out the registration form and send to sparkcubed@gmail.com. A DOE staff member will follow-up and provide details.

 

VAHomeless Vets — The VA is teaming up with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation to strengthen efforts to prevent veteran homelessness. This new partnership will expand the PenFed Foundation’s existing Military Heroes Fund Emergency Assistance Program to include all veterans. Previously, the program was available only to veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom conflicts. Visit www.va.gov/opa/pressrel/pressrelease.cfm?id=2739.

 

H2O Feedback —Honolulu’s draft Storm Water Management Program Plan is available for review and public comment. The plan is a requirement of the City’s National Pollutant Discharge and Elimination System Storm Water Permit No. HI S000002 and outlines steps the City will enact to reduce the discharge of storm water pollutants into State of Hawaii receiving waters.

Voting Registration — Are you registered in your home state? Call Angie Dizon, the Installation Voting Assistance Officer, at 655-5546 to register, or visit www.fvap.gov.

 

Got ID? — The Schofield Barracks ID card will be closed Nov. 9-13 for office relocation; DEERS/ID serviced are cross-serviced and can be taken care of at any DEERS location on Oahu. Visit https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.osd.mil to schedule an appointment with an alternate location. The Schofield facility will reopen for regular business, Nov. 16.

AFAP — The Army Family Action Plan Conference will run from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Nov. 16-17. Soldiers and family members can submit quality of life issues for AFAP to the Garrison website, www.garrison.hawaii.army.mil; simply click the AFAP button.

Also, volunteers and delegates are needed from all demographic groups. Complete an application at www.himwr.com/getting-involved/army-family-action-plan.

 

Military Clothing — The Schofield Military Clothing Store ends its trial hours on Sunday. Effective today, the stores hours will revert back to the following hours:

  • Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, closed.

eWaste Recycling — Responsibly delete electronics (computers and peripherals, stereos, cell phones, etc.) from your life, beginning today at Schofield’s commissary parking lot, followed by collection points near Fort Shafter’s library (Nov. 18) and inside Tripler’s main gate (Nov. 19). Certain items like appliances, refrigerators, plasma TVs and A/C units can’t be accepted. Call 656-3085.

Gift Wrapping — Family readiness groups authorized to operate on the installation may register to participate in annual holiday gift wrapping fundraisers at the Schofield Exchange. Send a request to usarmy.wheeler.imcom-pacific.mbx.fundraising@mail.mil.

Fundraising dates are Nov. 27-Dec. 24, from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., daily and Saturday, and Sundays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Call 656-0102.
