Today

Crater Rim Loop — A partial road closure at Aliamanu Military Reservation along Crater Rim Loop for new utility pole and underground utility installation began Wednesday. The westbound lane will be closed for underground utility work 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., (excluding holidays) until Dec. 31.

 Oahu lane closures for the weekend — All projects are weather permitting. The following information was provided by the Hawaii Dept. of Transportation.

— H-1 FREEWAY —

1) KAIMUKI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Closure of the 6th Avenue Off-Ramp (Exit 25B) of the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction on Friday night, Nov. 20, through Saturday morning, Nov. 21, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. for sign work.

2) PEARL CITY (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Up to three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between the Kamehameha Highway Overpass and the Waiawa Road Overpass for the rail project.

·        Westbound lanes closed Friday night, Nov. 20, through Saturday morning, Nov. 21, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
·        Eastbound and westbound lanes closed Sunday night, Nov. 22, through Wednesday morning, Nov. 25, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly.

The number of lanes closed will vary depending on the location of the roadwork.

3) SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between the Keehi Interchange and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Off-Ramp (Exit 15) for deck inspection. Ramps will remain open.

·        Two westbound right lanes closed on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
·        Two eastbound left lanes closed on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

4) WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) from the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction for the rail project.

·        Friday night, Nov. 20, through Saturday morning, Nov. 21, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
·        Sunday night, Nov. 22, through Thursday morning, Nov. 26, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly.

— H-3 FREEWAY —

1) KANEOHE TO HALAWA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Closure of the H-3 Freeway in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Likelike Highway Underpass and the Halawa Interchange on Saturday night, Nov. 21, through Sunday morning, Nov. 22, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. for routine tunnel cleaning and maintenance.

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY —

1) MAKAHA (WEEKEND WORK)
Roving lane closure on Farrington Highway in both directions between Kaena Point and Lawaia Street on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscape maintenance.

2) PEARL CITY (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two lanes closed on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction between Waiawa Road and the Kamehameha Highway Overpass for the rail project.

·        Saturday night, Nov. 21, through Sunday morning, Nov. 22, from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m.
·        Sunday night, Nov. 22, through Thursday morning, Nov. 26, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly.

3) PEARL CITY (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction on Saturday night, Nov. 21, through Sunday morning, Nov. 22, from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. for the rail project.

4) WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Closure of the Farrington Highway eastbound on-ramp to the H-1 Freeway on Sunday night, Nov. 22, through Thursday morning, Nov. 26, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for the rail project.

5) WAIPAHU (WEEKEND WORK)
Honolulu Rail Transit will be working on Farrington Highway this week at various locations.

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY —

1) MAKAPUU TO HAWAII KAI (WEEKEND WORK)
Roving right shoulder closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the southbound direction between Makapuu Lighthouse Road and Hanauma Bay Road on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —

1) MILILANI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
All lanes closed on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue on Sunday night, Nov. 22, through Wednesday morning, Nov. 25, from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., nightly, for road striping, shoulder improvements, and guardrail work.

General traffic will be re-routed for access to Kamehameha Highway via Waipio Uka Street, Ka Uka Boulevard, the H-2 freeway, Lanikuhana Avenue, Meheula Parkway, and Kuahelani Avenue. Local traffic access for Kipapa Gulch residents has been coordinated to be escorted through the project site as needed. Advisory message boards have been placed near Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue with the work schedule.

2) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Honolulu Rail Transit will be working on Kamehameha Highway this week at various locations.

·        24/7 lane closures in both directions between Waiawa Road and Kaonohi Street.
·        24/7 lane closures in both directions between Pali Momi Street and Honomanu Street.
·        Lane closure in the westbound direction between Lipoa Place and Pali Momi Street.
·        Lane closures in the eastbound direction between Honomanu Street and Salt Lake Boulevard, Monday through Friday.

— ALA MOANA BOULEVARD —

1) HONOLULU (WEEKEND WORK)
Right lane closed on Ala Moana Boulevard in the westbound direction between Piikoi Street and Queen Street on Saturday, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 22, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., daily, for sewer maintenance.

2) HONOLULU (WEEKEND WORK)
Left lane closure on Ala Moana Boulevard in the westbound direction at the Bishop Street Intersection on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. for street light pole replacements.

— MIDDLE STREET —

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Alternating lane closure on Middle Street in both directions between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, Nov. 20, through Saturday morning, Nov. 21, and Monday night, Nov. 23, through Wednesday morning, Nov. 25, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for the Middle Street Pavement Reconstruction project.

There will also be a 24/7 southbound median lane closure and sidewalk closure on the west side of Middle Street. Signage will be posted instructing pedestrians to use the east sidewalk.

— BISHOP STREET —

1) HONOLULU (WEEKEND WORK)
Left lane closure on Bishop Street in the southbound direction at the Ala Moana Boulevard Intersection on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. for street light pole replacements.

Karsten Thot Bridge

Nightwork — All lanes will be closed on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Whitmore Avenue and Kilani Avenue at the Karsten Thot Bridge on Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for preparation work for the repair and repaint project. Phase III Flow — Traffic will be restricted access on Schofield’s Trimble Road until Jan.15, 2016, for the third phase of a project for utility installation and curb/sidewalk upgrade. Traffic control will coordinate traffic.

 

30 / Monday

Carpenter Street — There will be a road closure at Schofield’s Carpenter Street, weekdays (except Wednesday), 8:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m., until Dec. 7.

 

Full Closure — A full road closure on Schofield’s Waianae Avenue (South Corridor) between Generals Loop and Jecelin Street will take place, weekdays, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., until Christmas. During this closure, Waianae Avenue (North) between Generals Loop and Jecelin Street will be designated for two-way traffic.

During nonworking hours, weekends and holidays, a right lane closure will take effect on Waianae Ave (South Corridor) between Generals Loop and Charlton Street, Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m.-8 a.m., and weekends, beginning Friday evenings, at 3:30 p.m. and ending Monday morning at 8 a.m.

Waianae Avenue traffic patterns will not be altered during this lane closure. Traffic control will alternate between the full road closure and right lane closure until Dec. 25.

Rate Increase — For the first time in more than four years, HDOT Airports Division is increasing public parking rates at six of its airports. The new rates will take today. The daily maximum rate at five Hawaii airports will increase by $3. See the “Traffic Report” at www.HawaiiArmyWeekly.com for specifics.

Puakika — The westbound lane of AMR’s Puakika Street will be closed for utility pole replacement starting from today through Dec. 11.

 

Ongoing

 

McMahon — There is a one-lane closure at Schofield’s McMahon Road, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., until Nov. 20.

 

AMR Revised — Aliamanu Drive and Sky Loop have ongoing closures, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at Aliamanu Military Reservation. Only one lane is closed at a time, until Nov. 20. Access to YMCA will always be available during project duration.

 

New Phase — Kline/Gordon Lane and the Stoneman Field Road is closed from now until Nov. 24, for the second phase of roadwork. There is no access to the parking at Family and Child Care and the Garrison Sports Office.

 

Sheridan & McCornack — There is a road closure, weekdays, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., until Nov. 22, at the Schofield intersection of Cadet Sheridan and McCornack roads. McCornack won’t be accessible from Cadet Sheridan, but will be accessible from Hewitt Street and Collier Loop.

The work will be performed daily. Weekend work will only be done if absolutely necessary, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

 

Wilson Road — There will be intermittent road closures, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Fort Shafter’s Wilson Road, near Bldg. 420, the Post Office and the intersection at Montgomery Drive, until Dec. 20.

Traffic on Warner Road headed towards the PX will be detoured onto Pierce Street between Bldgs. 435 and 438, and from the PX headed toward Warner Road.

Traffic will be detoured onto Montgomery Drive. Traffic on Montgomery Drive headed towards the PX parking lot will not be affected.

 

Long Construction — A partial, modified traffic flow and road closure near Schofield’s Nehelani for utility installation continues. The area near the loading docks and the parking lot between Bldgs. 2060, 2070 and 2071 are restricted though Dec. 28.

The work will be performed in phases. Parking is limited during closure.

 

Leilehua Closure — Schofield’s Leilehua Avenue will be closed in phases in order to reconstruct the road.

  • Phase 1 of Leilehua between Macomb and Kline/Gordon Lane is until Nov. 25.
  • Phase 2 between Kline/Gordon Lane and Stoneman Field Road will be Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. There will be no access to the parking of Bldg. 645, Family and Child Care and the Garrison Sports Office.
  • Phase 3 between McCornack and the Stoneman Field Road will be Dec. 7-11.
  • Phase 1 through 3 closures will be 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The lanes between Leilehua and Waianae Avenue that fall within the closed portions of Leilehua will be made two-way for residents only. On these lanes, there will be no parking in the Leilehua bound side of the road and no parking within 100 feet from Leilehua Avenue. The 100 feet no parking area will be used for cars to turn around.
  • Top lift paving and striping will be performed 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Dec. 14-17.

The contractor will have appropriate safety signs and barriers when the parking lot closes.
