TAMC offers T-shirt with blood donation

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS — The U.S. Army Health Clinic, here, is in need of all blood types, especially O Negative and Positive and A Negative types.

The clinic is in Rm. 117, Bldg. 691, and will conduct a blood drive, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., March 15. All donations will directly support Tripler Army Medical Center, deployed service members, ill or injured service members, veterans and family members, worldwide.

There are a few basic requirements that must be met in order to donate blood with the Armed Service Blood Program (ASBP):

  • Donors must have not donated blood previously within the last eight weeks,
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds,
  • Be at least 17 years of age,
  • Have been feeling well for at least three days prior to donating,
  • Be well hydrated and have eaten something prior to donating,
  • Have a picture ID and know when/where they have traveled, and
  • Be able to list the types of medications they’re currently taking.

The Tripler Blood Donor Center is one of more than 20 ASBP blood donor centers worldwide. It is the official military blood program of the U.S. and provides a direct connection between those who give and military service members in need of lifesaving blood.

The clinic looks forward to the donations from the U.S. Army Hawaii community.
