Celebration of Service — Gen. Robert B. Brown, commander, USARPAC, will host his first quarterly Celebration of Service, 10 a.m., on Fort Shafter’s Palm Circle.  The ceremony recognizes Soldiers, civilians and family members for their distinguished service as the 15  honorees prepare to transition into retirement.
Please arrive by 9:40 a.m.

Flying V — U.S. Army, Pacific says farewell to Brig. Gen. Bryan P. Fenton, assistant chief of staff of operations, 10 a.m., at historic Palm Circle, Fort Shafter.

Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Leota (center), senior enlisted leader, USARPAC, directs the formation during a “Flying V” ceremony to welcome Maj. Gen. William Beard, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Reserves, USARPAC, Monday.

Helemano Military Reservation — HMR’s fitness center and basketball and racquetball courts will be closed until May 25 for floor recoating, reopening May 26. All other areas of the facility will be open with normal operational hours.

The 25th Infantry Division Tropic Lightning Band is on hand to provide inspirational melodies and music for the crowd of over 800 attendees at the Army Commemoration event at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, in Honolulu, June 12. The band concluded the evening with its rendition of unit songs from each of 10 active divisions in the Army, followed by the "Army Song," an invocation by the USARPAC chaplain, Col. Michael W. The 25th Infantry Division Tropic Lightning Band

Joint Concert — The bands of the 25th Infantry Division, Marine Corps Forces Pacific and the U.S. Pacific Fleet will perform in the 31st annual Combined Military Band Appreciation Concert at Hawaii Theatre Center at 6 p.m. Free tickets are available at Hawaii Theatre at 1130 Bethel St., Honolulu (9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday).

The reception and seating begins at 5 p.m.; patrons without tickets will be seated at 5:45 p.m. Come celebrate Military Appreciation Month with the community.

WAIKIKI — Soldiers from USARPAC Headquarters Support Company dress in historically accurate uniforms from various periods of Army history for the "Legacy of Honor" concert, a free two-night sunset musical performance held at Fort DeRussy during Pacific Theater Army Week, held in celebration of the U.S. Army's 239th birthday.

Happy Birthday Army — U.S. Army-Pacific will celebrate the 241st Army birthday at Hilton Hawaii Village, June 10th. Military should wear dress blues or mess, and civilians should wear formal evening attire. Call 438-6361 for more details.

 

13 / Monday

USS Arizona — From today through June 26, the dock for the USS Arizona Memorial will be dismantled, removed and replaced. Visitors will not be able to disembark onto the USS Arizona Memorial during this time, although a boat ride to observe the memorial will still be available. All other visitor services will remain unchanged.

The dock was designed in Hawaii by a local company. A series of skid-proof ramps will replace the combination of steps and ramps that currently provide walking and wheelchair access from the dock to the memorial.
