USARPAC honors eight for 180 years of service

FORT SHAFTER — U.S. Army Pacific Soldiers, families and friends came together at historic Palm Circle, here, to honor eight Soldiers during a Celebration of Service ceremony, March 7.

Brig. Gen. Peter Andrysiak, USARPAC chief of staff, was the host of the ceremony, and thanked the Soldiers for their military service, which encompassed a combined total of 180 years.

“Today we celebrate the service of eight USARPAC leaders that together have a combined 180 years of service to our nation and 25 combat deployments,” said Andrysiak.

“It’s my distinct honor to be a part of this ceremony. Thank you for your dedicated service to our Army and our nation.”

Andrysiak said that the skills the Soldiers gained during their service would not be lost, but will go on to benefit society as they transition to another phase in life. Andrysiak highlighted the careers of the eight Soldiers over the course of the ceremony, noting their distinguished accomplishments, deployments and their future ambitions.

“Each of the eight Soldiers sitting here today made that decision to stay and commit to something greater then themselves, even during a period of sustained combat and great personal risk,” said Andrysiak.“They served our nation with honor and integrity in order to secure our freedom and protect the American way of life. Thank you for your service.”USARPAC’s Celebration of Service ceremony recognizes Soldiers for exceptional service to USARPAC and the nation as they get ready to transition into new careers. During the ceremony, Soldiers received awards, and were presented with the U.S. flag.
