It was founded in Texas in 1901:

The 14th Calvary Regiment was officially founded on the 2nd of February, 1901 and was first organized at Fort Leavenworth. Which is located in the state of Kansas.

The 14th Calvary Regiment has been deployed to various parts of the world over the years:

Since it was first founded in 1901 the 14th Cavalry Regiment has participated in the Philippine American War, the Mexican Campaign or 1912, World War II, the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War.

It’s very first deployment was to the Phillipines:

The 14th Calvary Regiment’s very first deployment was to the Philippines, during the Philippine American War. The regiment was posted to the Phillipines between 1903 and 1906 and were involved in various insurgency campaigns. After a successful campaign, the regiment was reposted to the US in 1906.

It was a key part of numerous influential World War II battles:

Some World War II battles which the 14th Calvary Regiment fought in include the famous Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Remagen. For their part in the Battle of the Bulge, in which the regiment fought to protect St. Vith, the entire regiment was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation. Furthermore, the entire regiment was also awarded a second Presidential Unit Citation for its involvement in the Battle of Remagen.

The regiment was temporarily disbanded and was reinstated due to the Iraq War:

The 14th Calvary Regiment was officially disbanded in 1972. However, the regiment was reinstated in 2000 and remains active to this day. Cav 14 was reactivated on the 15th of September 2000 and was the US Army’s very first reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition squadron in the Iraq War.

It has an official motto:

The official motto of cav 14 is “Suivez Moi”, which is French. Translated to English “suivez moi”, equates to the saying “follow me”. Which makes perfect sense for a surveillance and target acquisition squad. Who are often the first soldiers to arrive in a new destination.
