Each year the Aloha Festival begins with the Royal Court Opening Ceremony which features a traditional chant, pageantry and a hula. If you want to celebrate the start of the Aloha Festival, it’s well worth attending the Royal Court Opening Ceremony in order to get into the spirit of the Aloha Festival.

It features a floral parade:

One of the highlights of each Aloha Festival is the annual Aloha Festival floral parade. Which takes place in Waikiki and makes its way from Ala Moana Park to Kapiolani Park. Passing through Kalakaua Avenue. If you attend the floral parade, you’ll see floats which have been beautifully decorate with thousands of fresh flowers. As well as men and women on horseback, marching bands and traditional hula dances. If you’re only able to experience a single event during the Aloha Festival, it’s well worth choosing to attend the floral parade.

Just be sure to find your spot early as thousands of residents and tourists alike flock to watch the Aloha Festival floral parade. So it’s a great idea to head to the parade early, in order to score yourself a first row position. So that you’ll be able to clearly see each float which drives past your position.

It boasts a fun block party:

Another highlight of the Aloha Festival is the Waikiki Ho’olaule’a. A huge block party which features food and drink, cultural performances and live music and entertainment. If you love attending community festivals, you’ll love getting to experience the Waikiki Ho’olaule’a block party first hand. Especially as you’ll get to try local food and drinks and to listen to some of Hawaii’s most talented artists.
