More than 1,000 Coronavirus cases have been identified in Hawaii:

The state of Hawaii has recently recorded its 1,000th Covid-19 case. So far, over 70% of the recorded Coronavirus cases in Hawaii, have been attributed to individuals who reside on the island of Oahu. Although there have also been a significant number of Covid-19 cases on Maui, Big Island and Kauai.

During a press conference the mayor of Oahu, Kirk Caldwell expressed his concern about the possibility of widespread community transmission on Oahu and urged residents to continue wearing masks and to stay six feet away from other individuals. As if Covid-19 spreads throughout Oahu, it may not be able to open the state up to tourists on the 1st of August, 2020.

Residents flock to the beaches to celebrate Independence Day:

On the forth of July thousands of Hawaii residents flocked to their favorite, local beach in order to celebrate Independence Day, with their family members and close friends. However, Hawaii’s health department has reported concerns that there may be an increase of cases in the coming days, due to the number of individuals who did not follow social distancing practices.

Hawaii continues to offer Open Street Sundays:

The state of Hawaii just announced that Open Street Sundays would continue to take place in Waikiki, throughout July. During Open Street Sundays one of the main streets in Waikiki, Kalakaua Avenue is temporarily closed to vehicles, in order to allow individuals to cycle safely down Kalakaua Avenue. For the rest of July, individuals will be able to cycle down Kalakaua Avenue between 6 am and midday, each Sunday,

Local police investigate the brutal stabbing of a marine:

Local police are currently in the process of investigating the brutal stabbing of a marine. Who was killed as a result of being stabbed in the neck. The unnamed victim lived in the Acacia Park complex with his wife.

The state of Hawaii has just given its health director the power to declare public health emergencies.
